So you want a new lens and you know about how zoom numbers work but when it gets to the F numbers...there a few things to look at
Full Frame compared to Micro 4/3 comparison
There are so many comparisons and arguments and comments that the bokeh of a full frame camera is much more than Micro 4/3 camera. So i decided to do a comparison with my Nikon D4 full frame with a 70-200 F2.8 and my Olympus EM1 4/3 with the equivalent lens. Both set at full zoom...both at F.28 .What do you think.. Can you tell the difference?
Supermoon Shooting
So you know the moon is REALLY close real soon and you want to take some shots with your super duper smartphone with heaps of pixels and someone tells you to "get into the real world"and use your super duper mirrorless dslr Canikolyfujipetaxony camera that you got last year and when you came to my camera class,you wanted to come to a class....but it just didnt happen!!
Ok...you got a tripod....this is where you wonder if that extra bit investment into the tripod is worth it like the salesman said....Your camera has an app that allows you to shoot with your IPAD....it might or might not work but at least you can use the self timer as final resort.
You have 2 lenses....the moon is pretty far away so the big zoom lens is a good idea...you should see something like numbers 200mm or more...if less, you are gonna have to walk closer to the moon otherwise look at other things to photographer that are closer to you.
To keep it simple, Shoot in Aperture Priority and choose anything between F5.6 and F11 and use the exposure compensation button. Shoot at middle and bracket down towards the minus side.
I try 100/200 ISO for less noise and if I find the shutter speeds too slow, I up the ISO to increase the shutter speed. Shutter speeds are no longer than 2 secs to get a sharp photo.
Get up high or somewhere where you can see the horizon..and hope there is no clouds or rain...just like it seems tonight in Sydney!

Here we go again. Another explanation of a million out there of F stop numbers in photography. Yep ok..those of you out there who get it...congrats, cause when you do understand it,its a pretty cool thing to understand when you understand the whole triangle with ISO and shutter speed.
So yes, there is a physical/mechanical aspect to this whole thing but my explanation of F Stop numbers is an explanation of what the setting can do to your photo to create a particular type of shot that's call DEPTH OF FIELD
